Midwest Native American Language Resource Center

A resource center supporting over 20 Native languages across the Midwest through tools, materials, and community-based language learning.

Who We Are

The Midwest Native American Language Resource Center is based at Little Priest Tribal College in Winnebago, Nebraska. We support over 20 Native American languages across the Midwest region by providing tools, materials, training, and community-based learning resources for both individuals and language programs.

We take pride in being the only Native American language resource center located within a Tribal College. This position gives us a unique connection to community, culture, and lived experience — something that sets us apart from centers housed at non-tribal universities.

Our work strengthens language revitalization efforts by offering:

  • Learning and teaching materials

  • Digital and print resources

  • Program support

  • Community-based language learning tools

  • Connections to tribes, speakers, and educators

Visitors to our site will be able to explore each of the 18 languages we serve, with dedicated pages linking to:

  • Individual language information

  • Tribal program websites

  • Cultural background

  • Learning resources

  • Teaching materials

  • Community initiatives

This center exists to uplift Indigenous languages, support those doing the work, and help learners of all ages reconnect with their languages.
